Recap of HackRTC and RTC Conference 2023: Access Videos and Slides

After a three-year hiatus, we were delighted to welcome you back in person this year for two exciting events: the inaugural HackRTC, held from September 30th to October 1st, and the 19th Annual Real-Time Communications Conference at Illinois Tech from October 3rd to 4th.

Accessing Valuable Content

We’re happy to announce that videos of this year’s HackRTC demo pitches, along with the talks, and presentation slides from our esteemed RTC Conference speakers are now available. In 2023, our conference expanded its focus on the art, science, and technology that underpin Real-Time Communications. The presentations provided valuable insights into the current state of the industry, introduced emerging technologies, and shared innovative ideas and methods that will shape the future of Real-Time Communications.

Where to Find the Content

  • HackRTC demo pitches are available on our Illinois Tech YouTube channel in a dedicated playlist.
  • Conference presentation videos can also be found in a separate playlist on the Illinois Tech YouTube channel.
  • You can also access these videos along with presentation slides for speakers who submitted their slide decks directly from the Conference Speakers page on our conference website. Simply scroll to an individual presentation, click on the title to display the abstract, and you’ll find links at the bottom of each abstract to view both the presentation slides and videos.

A Grateful Thank You

We owe a massive thanks to all our HackRTC & Conference Sponsors without whom neither of these incredible events would have been possible!

Additionally, a big shout out to our dedicated team of track chairs for making IIT RTC Conference 2023 a resounding success. Their hard work and commitment ensured that this year’s conference succeeded in being both highly informative and engaging!

Looking Ahead to 2024

We have an exciting milestone approaching in 2024 as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the RTC Conference at Illinois Tech. Few technology conferences reach such a significant milestone, and hosting everyone in person this year has reinvigorated our commitment to delivering an even better conference in 2024. We invite you to plan on joining us to celebrate, learn, and collaborate. The tentative dates are October 5-6, 2024, for HackRTC and October 8-10, 2024, for the RTC Conference. If these dates conflict with any events that might make participation challenging for you or other members of the RTC community, please reach out to Carol Davids ([email protected]), Warren Bent ([email protected]), or Tom Costello ([email protected]) to share any concerns or suggestions.

Register for HackRTC!

Date: Saturday and Sunday, September 30 – October 1, 2023
Time: Saturday – 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM; Sunday – 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Register Free at: HackRTC Registration
Sponsors: HackRTC Sponsors

Where: The Kaplan Center on IIT’s Mies Campus

HackRTC is a weekend-long hackathon focused on creating real-time communications enabled hacks – prototype applications – utilizing software resources supplied by the HackRTC sponsors. We bring together developers, designers, and tech enthusiasts over a weekend to create prototype solutions to real-world challenges, while providing a venue in which participants can showcase their skills, learn from industry experts, network with sponsors, and compete for prizes. To create your hack, you can hack solo, or bring a team, or find some team mates at the event!

Sponsors: Thank you to our sponsors,LiveKit and INdigital without whom HackRTC would not be possible. In order to be eligible to win a prize, your hack must incorporate one (or both) of the sponsors developer resources. To get started on setting up an account and review sample use cases for each of their resources we’ve recorded a short webinar to help you get started which you can view here using passcode: *p80R5NJ

Food: Throughout HackRTC we’ll be fueling hackers energy with tons of great food and drink.

Prizes: At the conclusion of the event, on Sunday afternoon, the hacking teams produce 5 – minute demo-pitches showcasing what they have created. Based on these pitches, judges from the sponsors award prize money to the teams that created the most compelling hacks on the sponsor resources. Presentations: Winning teams will be invited to deliver their demo pitches again to an influential group of industry leaders at the RTC Conference and Expo, October 3-4.

Additionally, all demo pitches will be live-streamed, and recorded and published on our website so hackers effort is rewarded with collateral that can be used on their resumes, at work, or simply to wow friends. We are eager to see what you create as you mash up programmable telecoms with some of the many other services available over the web to solve problems across all aspects of people’s lives!
For More Information: Please contact the track Co-Chairs: Muhammad Hamza Nasir and Kanwarjeet Randhawa
